Men's baseball earns first win at CIBA National Championships
WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock Badgers men's baseball team improved their record to 1-1 in the preliminary round of the CIBA National Championships defeating Concordia 3-1. Starting pitcher Kurtis Robinson went the distance, throwing a two-hitter to earn the victory on the mound.
Robinson (Mississauga, Ont.) was named the game's most valuable player after his dominant performance on the hill carrying a no-hitter into the 6th inning. Robinson also struck out seven in the complete game effort.
The Badgers scored three run in the game in defeating the defending CIBA National Champion Stingers. Brock scored two runs in the bottom of the second, with Peter Benvenuto (Mississauga, Ont.) driving in what turned out to be the winning run. The second run of the inning was unearned.
Garret Fischer (Niagara Falls, Ont.) drove in an insurance run in the bottom of 6th inning and that's all the Badgers would need as Robinson shut down the Stingers in the 7th.
