Daniel Forte to bring triple threat skills to Brock Baseball

Brock Baseball is proud to announce the recruitment of outfielder/pitcher Daniel Forte, a nineteen year old Toronto native. Forte is excited to bring three major attributes to the Brock roster as a strong hitter, fielder and pitcher, and looks forward to the start of the season in the fall.

Daniel chose to attend Brock because of its’ combination of it’s outstanding academic reputation and successful baseball program. Daniel has said “I chose Brock because it’s a very good university city and offers a lot that other schools don’t offer, experience wise”. Forte goes on to add “Brock has always been successful and recognized as a good baseball program, and I’m looking forward to making it better for the next few years.”

Forte feels that he can help the team with his versatility in the field. Daniel says “I feel I bring options to the team, if I’m needed to make a spot start or work out of the bullpen I’d be available, also the option of corner infield or just being the DH for a series is always an option.” Daniel feels that he plays with a power style, whether at the plate or in the field. “The threat of going deep is always there, and from the mound I attack the hitters… I feel that in the past I’ve done a good job of delivering and I’m hoping to bring that to Brock.” Daniel’s assessment of his ability is obviously accurate when he describes his greatest moment in baseball. When asked about the moment, Forte describes it as “In Tennessee last summer when I hit a go-ahead home run going into the last inning, then threw out the tying run on a sacrifice fly attempt to end the game.”

Coach Lounsbury says, "Daniel is the kind of player you can build a program around. He is a baseball junkie and will do everything to improve and to win. I think he has a huge ceiling also, he is so strong. This season we wanted to bring in a lot of new talent, and Daniel is one of these players who should make an immediate impact and change the core and direction of our program." Daniel compares his style of pitching to Houston Astros pitcher Matt Lindstrom. Daniel draws this comparison because he believes that they both work fast on the mound, and have unique windups.

Forte is currently recovering from some injury issues, and he believes this summer will be a very important one for him to get healthy quickly. He hopes to get back into game shape by performing different types of lifts and also running. Daniel also likes to keep busy by taking part in kickboxing, basketball and hockey. However, Daniel has already set his sights on the 2010 season, saying “My first goal is to get my arm back to full strength and back to throwing bullpens weekly… so I can fully contribute to winning the championship at Brock next year.”

Daniel will be entering his first year of Sport Management studies in the fall of 2010. Brock Baseball would like to welcome him to the club, and remind you to return for more recruit updates and other team news throughout the summer.
