Martinow Outduels Reynolds as Brock wins 8-2

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University baseball team (6-2 OUA, 8-5 Overall) beat up on the Guelph Gryphons Saturday at Community Park, winning by a score of 8-2. 

Badgers starting pitcher Matt Martinow (Simcoe, Ont.) won the pitching duel against Guelph's Adam Reynolds, as Brock has now won their third straight OUA matchup.  

Martinow pitched a complete game giving up 10 hits 1 earned run and had 10 strikeouts. Reynolds went 6 innings giving up 3 runs, 2 earned and 2 hits while striking out 10 also. 

After Guelph put up one run in the top of the first, Brock scored two runs in their half, on a two out single by Casey Burnie (Peterborough, Ont.). They scored another run in the fourth after Korie Assivero (Barrie, Ont.) stole third base, the ball hit him, and as a result the ball got away from the Guelph third baseman.

A Cam Graham (Sarnia, Ont.) double scored Joe Kirby in the 7th to make it 4-2 and Brock then scored 4 runs in the 8th to seal the win.

Leading the Badgers offensively was Craig Jacques (Delhi, Ont.) one hit, one stolen base and one RBI, Matt Marinelli (Pickering, Ont.) one hit and an RBI, Mike Walker (Guelph, Ont.) 1 hit, three stolen bases and one RBI, Casey Burnie (two hits and two RBI's), Matt Kissel (Whitby, Ont.) a double and a stolen base and Cam Graham (two hits and an RBI)

The Badgers play a double header tomorrow, as Waterloo comes to town for games at 1pm and 3:30pm.
