ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's basketball teams are both ranked in the CIS Top 10 for the first time together since the 2006-07 season.
The Brock men open the 2015-16 CIS Rankings in fourth spot, after finishing the preseason with 7-0 record against CIS opponents. The Badgers posted victories over Brandon (103-86),  Winnipeg (81-52), Manitoba (79-75), Victoria (99-69), Concordia (74-68), Ryerson (92-83) and Windsor (94-92) in the preseason.
In just his third year at the helm, head coach
Charles Kissi has built a program that can score and compete. Look for the Badgers to be one of the top offensive teams in the country led by back-to-back OUA rookies of the year in
Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) and
Johneil Simpson (Toronto, Ont.). Rounding out their starting five are
Matt Marshall (Burlington, Ont.), transfer
Ryan Bennett (Toronto, Ont.) and point guard
Nolan Mackenzie (Oakville, Ont.), who missed most of the preseason due to injury.Â
The Brock women find themselves ranked No. 6 in the first 2015-16 CIS Rankings of the season. The Badgers posted a 4-0 record against CIS opponents with victories over Memorial (83-53),  Laurentian (50-45), Saint Mary's (59-54) and Queen's (68-56).
Head Coach
Si Khounviseth, who is in his seventh season at the helm, has a strong group of returnees and a talented young incoming class. He has built a lineup that's strengths are depth, defense and being able to score in transition. The Badgers are led by four fifth year seniors;
Jenalyn Yumol (London, Ont.),
Kayla Santilli (Brantford, Ont.),
Katie Harpur (Niagara on the Lake, Ont.) and
Becky Ralph (Ancaster, Ont.), who are looking to go out on top in their final season in the OUA. Also watch for 2014-15 OUA All-Star
Melissa Tatti (Ancaster, Ont.)Â to be on of the top guards in the OUA in just her second season.Â
The Badgers open the 2015-16 OUA regular season in Hamilton against the nationally ranked McMaster Marauders.Â
