Brock men's hockey drops 5-3 decision to No. 10 UQTR

Box Score After a difficult 9-2 loss against Concordia on Friday night, the Badgers returned to action a mere 16 hours later as they visited the UQTR Patriots.

UQTR, who entered the game third in the OUA East with an 8-4 record, opened the scoring at 10:15 of the first on a goal by Olivier Dallaire, assisted by Billy Lacasse and Marc-Olivier Mimar.

The Patriots extended their lead just over two minutes later when assistant captain Keven Robert beat Dalton MacGrath to make it 2-0.

With Patriots forward Olivier D'Aoust off for roughing, the Badgers cut into the lead with the man advantage, as Andrew Radjenovic snapped it by goaltender Marc-Antoine Gelinas.

Matt Abercrombie and Johnson Andrews had the assists on Radjenovic's goal, which was scored at 19:36 of the first period.

UQTR took a commanding 5-1 lead in the second, with three consecutive goals.

Billy Lacasse made it 3-1 on his first goal and third point of the game, followed by Anthony Verret, who made it 4-1 on the powerplay, scoring the eventual game winner.

At 7:10 of the second, Marc-Olivier Mimar provided insurance for the Patriots, while also collecting three points in the game, en route to making it 5-1.

The Badgers cut into the lead 46 seconds into the third after Matt Abercrombie scored his sixth goal of the season – unassisted. Milan Doczy capped off the Badgers scoring, with his first career OUA goal, off a cross-crease pass by Sammy Banga.

The total shots were 53-37. MacGrath made 48 saves in a losing effort for the Badgers.

Brock looks to get back into the win column as they visit the University of Guelph Gryphons on Thursday before returning home on Saturday hosting the Windsor Lancers. Puck drop is 7:15pm at the Seymour-Hannah Centre.
