Nahimana and Roorda named Brock Athletes of the Week

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University male and female Athletes of the Week for the week ending January, 8th are men's basketball player Brian Nahimana (London, Ont.) and women's volleyball player Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.).

Nahimana, a third year General Studies student, helped lead the Brock men's basketball team to a 1-1 record this past week. In two games off the bench, Nahimana shot 57.1% (8-for-14) from the field and averaged 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. In the Badgers 77-74 victory over Guelph, he added 12 points and seven boards in 17 minutes, while going 5-for-7 from the field. 

Roorda, a fourth year Psychology major, led the Brock women's volleyball team to a 2-0 record this past week highlighted by a 3-1 victory over the No. 7 ranked York Lions. In two matches, Roorda hit an impressive .394 while registering 35 points, 32 kills and three blocks. In the Badgers 3-1 victory over York, Roorda recorded a season-high 19 kills with a .436 hitting percentage. She currently leads the Badgers with 150.5 points, 116 kills and 38 blocks.
